South African cuisine is a symbiosis of world culinary art. Masses of migrants from all over the world: the British, Greeks, Germans, Portuguese, Spaniards, Hungarians, Malays, Indians, Chinese, Arabs, as well as Russians and many other nationalities brought their culinary traditions here.
Cape-Dutch cuisine is considered popular, which, starting from the 17th century, spread north from Cape Town when the Boers massively migrated from there.
Their dishes resemble Russian rural food, generously seasoned with spices and herbs that workers from the East India Company once brought from India to South Africa.
